ABOUT US
The Marvin Okun
Agency is an independent insurance agency that has been
operating in Southwestern Lower Michigan for over 40
years, primarily in Kalamazoo and surrounding areas. In
its years of operation, the agency has expanded from two
employees to a staff of 20+ personnel handling personal,
commercial, and group health and life products. The
current annual premium volume of over $20,000,000 has
been accomplished without acquisitions or mergers with
other agencies. Future growth will be realized through
our ability to balance quality client services and
account expansion while maintaining a profit for both
the agency and carriers.
Our Personal Lines
Department maintains good loss ratio with carriers
utilizing a mixture of products. We concentrate on good
standard business and attempt to round out our accounts
with automobile, homeowners and umbrella. Weekly staff
meetings are held to discuss problems, goals, company
procedures, production, new business and etc. to better
serve our clients.
The Commercial
Lines Department writes all lines of insurance that our
carriers provide, including package, mono-line, workers
compensation, automobile, umbrella, boiler and
machinery. We also write fiduciary, surety and
contractor bonds. Most commercial accounts are small to
medium sized with our largest block of commercial
business being the contractors market; primarily
sub-contractors. With our ability to develop and market
company marketed plans we sell several group programs
and company sponsored programs. As with Personal Lines,
weekly staff meetings allow for exchange of information.
Members of the
Life and Health Department currently have a large block
of group business for which they perform third party
administration. For most accounts, the coordination
between our departments allows us to write their
casualty business as well.
Most members of
the Marvin Okun Agency staff are licensed agents with
many having an area of expertise to better sell and
service the needs of our customers. We have a very
aggressive marketing program and through our years of
service in the insurance arena we have established an
excellent relationship with our underwriters.
